We enjoyed a convivial and moving changeover at BBYC on Sunday 5th July. Proceedings started with a moments silence honouring Paul Cressey, a founder member and stalwart of our club. He will be sorely missed.

Past President Terry gave a summary of the high points of the 2019/ 2020 Rotary year. A year out of the box which will be infamous of decades and centuries to come. Our ability as a group to pivot and adjust to the new normal was recognised by our District Governor Gary Langford. It was also noted that we were the first Rotary Club to conduct a new member induction on ZOOM when we were privileged to welcome Helen Carbery to Rotary.

Two Honorary Memberships were awarded. To John Rudd and Richard Osborne respectively. These are a great honour and the Board and membership were delighted to recognise three decades of dedication, hardwork and friendship from these two fine colleagues.

In addition a Paul Harris Fellowship was awarded to Irena Giles recognising her contribution as President in 2018-2019, and a Paul Harris Sapphire to Rod Cooke for his conception and  leadership of, as well as his personal contribution to, the Bangers to Bluff Rally. This is now our most important fundraiser.

The chains of office were passed to President Peter. Peter accepted the office with grace and committed to leading the club through the year ahead. His focus will be on meeting the needs of both our local community and our membership. Making a difference in Half Moon Bay and Howick whilst having a good deal of fun and providing opportunities for members to network and develop personally.
