The presentation of a grant to one of our  Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay partners is always a celebration, and none more so than when the funds were raised by the "Bangers to Bluff" rally, one of our flagship (flagcar?) projects.

In 2019 the rally raised a record amount again, with every participant and the entire club thoroughly enjoying either staging or completing this eclectic drive from Auckland to Bluff along the road less travelled. Months of careful planning culminating in two weeks of discovery, hilarity, fellowship and the making of lifelong friends.

At our meeting on 5th June 2019 Paul Osborne, Chairman of Hopeworks Foundation, was presented with the sum of $22 300 by President Irena. Hopeworks is passionate about changing the way that the public, private and medical sectors look at disability and the ways in which they communicate. They are driven to create a solid foundation upon which those with neurological conditions and brain injuries can be empowered through informed choices and information.

One key focus of the foundation in 2019 is a partnership with the NZ Fire Service to audit the home environments of those suffering from neurological conditions to ensure they are safe in the context of their own unique situation. This includes an on the spot report and implementation of necessary recommendations, and is topped off by the installation of a quality smoke alarm in every room to ensure that the necessary level of alert can be provided to these residents. All at no cost to the family. We are delighted to support this wonderful organisation.

The organisation for "Bangers to Bluff 2020" is well underway (with clear vision)
