Tremendous insights into business leadership

We were delighted to host Bruce Cotterill, a highly respected NZ business leader and "personal excellence" evangelist at our meeting on Wednesday 12 August.  In a world where only unpredictability is predictable and the prevailing wind brings uncertainty, businesses must focus only on what they can control to survive and prosper. Moreover they need to narrow their attention and energy to the one or two components of their business that actually make a difference and doggedly stick to their core competence.

Over time Bruce has identified the 7 'Principals of Profit' that drive the bottom line to be;
  • Dealing with change
  • Leadership
  • The back office - finance and admin
  • Products and services
  • Sales and Marketing
  • People
  • Customers
With regard to the 3 key principals of leadership Bruce expresses these thus;
  • Clarity
  • Communication
  • Consistency
The entire address was rich with business insights, observations on the human condition and humour. An interactive Q&A was the perfect finale and earned the poser of "the best question" a copy of Bruce's best selling book “The Best Leaders Don’t Shout”. A thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring meeting.
